Is it a good deal even without a student discount? Kimono rental VASARA plans

There are many plans for kimono rental, such as student discounts and group plans, but many people don't know which one to choose, and can't decide which plan will ultimately be the best deal. I think there are also a relatively large number of people who don't know what type of kimono they want to wear in the first place. So, this time I would like to explain the contents of the plans at Kimono Rental VASARA. I will also introduce limited-time campaign information, so please take advantage of it.

  • What is VASARA Kimono Rental?

The first store was opened at Sensoji Temple in 2016. Since then, by the end of March 2019, the company has expanded to 22 stores across the country. This is the largest number of stores in Japan for a kimono rental shop. As the stores are usually located in front of train stations, they are extremely convenient, allowing you to return home by train immediately after returning your kimono.

  • Knowledge of Japanese clothing

Do you know the difference between a kimono and a yukata? In fact, there are many meanings and types hidden in the word kimono. I would like you to take an interest in the words of Japanese clothing that you use casually, so I will introduce some basic knowledge about Japanese clothing.

・Difference between kimono and yukata

Roughly speaking, kimonos are for all seasons, while yukatas are for the hot summer months only. Some of the things you need to put on a yukata are omitted, and it is simplified by not needing to wear tabi socks or a juban undergarment.

Yukatas are convenient because they eliminate the step of having to put on an outfit. If you are offering a kimono experience to foreigners, we recommend the easy-to-wear yukata.

-What kind of kimono is a hakama?

Hakama is a type of Japanese clothing worn over a kimono. The part that covers from the waist to the feet is called "hakama," and wearing hakama is the "hakama style." It is one of the most typical Japanese clothing worn on special occasions, with more and more people wearing it for school graduation ceremonies. Hakama is like a skirt, and the kimono is worn like a miniskirt, making it easier to move around in than a regular kimono. As the words "high-collar" and "Taisho Romantic" suggest, it is often used as fashionable clothing.

・Difference between furisode and kimono

Furisode is a Japanese clothing term that is often heard at coming-of-age ceremonies. The biggest difference between it and a kimono is the length of the sleeves. A kimono is about one shaku five sun to eight sun (about 57-68 cm), but a furisode is longer than that. Furisode are also divided into types according to the length of the sleeves, such as small furisode (two shaku sleeves), medium furisode, and large furisode, and the differences between each type are determined by the length of the sleeves. In addition to coming-of-age ceremonies, they can be used at formal occasions such as weddings.
