Fukuro Nagoya Obi

What is Fukuro Nagoya Obi?

A Fukuro Nagoya obi is a simple obi that can be sewn without the need for a core.

Name of Fukuro Nagoya Obi

There are many names for Fukuro Nagoya obi, including Hassun obi, Hassun Nagoya obi, Karaki obi, etc. Like Nagoya obi, the obi before tailoring is sold rolled up, but since it is a thick woven obi such as Tsuzureori, Tsumugi, and Hakataori, no obi core is used when tailoring it.

Although it has the word "fukuro" (bag), it is not bag-shaped, as it combines the best features of fukuro obi and Nagoya obi. It is a single-piece obi.

It was invented in the early Showa period and became popular and widespread due to its lightness and ease of fastening.

There are two types of Nagoya obi: dyed Nagoya and woven Nagoya, and the materials change depending on the season. Dyed Nagoya obi made of silk gauze is popular in summer.
