Introducing Kamakura's stylish ramen shops with a friendly atmosphere that's perfect for women

The ancient city of Kamakura has many great places to eat, such as fashionable cafes and beach houses in Shonan, but did you know that there are also many fashionable ramen shops? You might be wondering how ramen can be fashionable, but we guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised. In this article, we will introduce fashionable ramen shops in Kamakura that are also easy for women to enter. They are located in places that are easy to stop by when you are strolling around Kamakura in a kimono, so please make use of them when sightseeing.

●Ikidzu

"Ichikanjin" is a stylish restaurant that has been talked about on internet review sites.

The exterior looks like a beach hut, and the interior has a wooden cafe-like atmosphere. It has a clean feel that is hard to find in other ramen shops.

Ikkanjin's recommended menu item is the "Tsukemen." The bowl is shaped like a leaf and is garnished with lime, giving it a refreshing summer or sea vibe. The lime is poured over the noodles. The noodles are homemade flat, which is rare for tsukemen. They are chewy and satisfying to eat. The soup is pork bone based, but the sourness from the ponzu sauce and lime make this a tsukemen that is perfect for the hot summer.

It's also close to Yuigahama Beach, so why not stop by next time you're out wearing your yukata?

This is the Yukata One-Star (4,500 yen). It has a stylish and pop feel, so I chose pink for a bright impression.

●HANABI

Do you know a ramen shop that has been in business for over 10 years and is a favorite of local Kamakura ladies? In Kamakura, where a shop will quickly change if it isn't popular, it must be a popular shop to have been in business since 2005. The name of the popular ramen shop is "HANABI." It has a cafe-like appearance, like an idiot.

The recommended dish here is the "HANABI Ramen." This ramen has a Japanese-style soup made with fish stock and chicken and pork, and is topped with two slices of roast pork, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and seasoned egg. Although the appearance is simple, all the ingredients are domestically produced, and the place of origin seems to change with the seasons, making this ramen very reassuring. For this reason, it is frequented by many women and families with children who are likely local residents. Perhaps the key to becoming a popular restaurant is to be loved by the locals. VASARA Kimono Rental Komachi-dori store has been open for about two years. We hope to be a restaurant that is used by both tourists and locals.

The store has a simple white theme, so we chose yellow items that would easily match the surroundings.

●Kamakura Akasaka Restaurant

Kamakura Akasaka Hanten is a famous Chinese restaurant that is often used by locals. First, there are three things to note. Do not call out to the staff when ordering. Give them the menu by number. No cell phones allowed. In this age of widespread SNS and the Internet, this restaurant may seem like it goes against the times, but it has long been loved by locals. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, so please be sure to pay attention to the above points when using this restaurant. Kamakura Akasaka Hanten is located in an alley just behind Komachi-dori. The restaurant has a distinctive red exterior, and its simple, clear golden Chinese noodles and thickened Chinese noodles are popular. Why not try the simple yet exquisite taste? Since it is on Komachi-dori, you can easily get there from the VASARA Kimono Rental Kamakura Komachi-dori store, so it may be a good idea to fill your stomach before heading out sightseeing.

This kimono is a two-star (5,900 yen). I chose a red kimono to match the red exterior of the store. It's also perfect for a trip to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, which is nearby.

●Menya Nami

The menu at Menya Wave is famous for its stylish dishes that use Kamakura vegetables and are hard to believe are ramen at first glance. The restaurant has a blue exterior that makes it look like a beach hut. It has been ranked number one in Kamakura city on a review site (as of December 2018).

The reason for its popularity is this "Curry Tsukemen." It looks just like French cuisine. If you order tsukemen and see how it's presented, you'll probably say it looks pretty. The Kamakura vegetables served on the plate are zucchini, okra, carrots, bitter melon, yam, and cherry tomatoes. Aside from the vegetables, it is also topped with boiled eggs, roasted pork, and seaweed. Why not try some tasteful cuisine in Kamakura?

This kimono is One-Star (4,900 yen). I chose blue for the interior and because it's close to Yuigahama Beach.
