Recommended for those in hakama! Instagrammable spots

When you think of hakama, the first thing that comes to mind is graduation ceremonies. However, recently, more and more people are going out in hakama. Unlike regular kimono, hakama are easy to move around in and are recommended for going out! In this article, we will introduce some recommended Instagram-worthy spots to wear hakama, which are sure to look great on Instagram.

COFFEE HALLKugutsu grass

Kugutsu means a marionette, and this shop, Edo String Puppet Yukiza, which operates the puppets, opened in 1979. The shop is located underground, and when you open the door and enter, you'll find a cave-like space.

★Mitaka City Yamamoto Yuzo Memorial Museum

This is the residence of the writer Yuzo Yamamoto, and is an authentic Western-style building from the end of the Taisho period. The building incorporates the architectural style that was popular at the time, including three unique fireplaces, beautiful stained glass, a study and a reception room.

Mr. A's Garden

This small park in Asagaya, Suginami Ward, is affectionately known as the house where Totoro lives, and the name "Mr. A's Garden" was also named by director Hayao Miyazaki. (Mr. A refers to everyone who comes to the park.) It consists of a wooden one-story house from the Taisho period and the garden surrounding it, and you can see plants such as roses and magnolias.

★Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

The museum is lined with buildings from each era, giving you the feeling of having traveled back in time. Thirty buildings of great historical value that were constructed from the Edo period to the early Showa period have been restored. The museum is divided into a central zone, an east zone, and a west zone, and each zone has its own highlights. There is also a Western-style building where you can enjoy meals inside, and you can experience the Meiji period with the hospitality of maids. One of the buildings was the model for the boiler room where Kamaji works, who appears in the Ghibli film "Spirited Away." The Edo Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum covers an area of about seven hectares (about the size of ten Tokyo Domes). It will take a maximum of four hours to thoroughly view all the exhibits, so you can spend a full day there. Why not come and see it for yourself?

★Kotori Cafe

You can enjoy your cafe time while watching cute little birds such as parakeets and Java sparrows. There is also a bird-themed goods corner where you can get cute bird goods! There are also three types of cakes, with the highlight being the Mitaka no Mori Mont Blanc! It might be a good idea to visit both here and the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, which we introduced in "5 Kichijoji Outing Spots to Enjoy in a Kimono". I think you'll enjoy it even more.

★Tea and sweets Yokoo

Yokoo Tea and Sweets is a cafe located on Nakamichi-dori. It is a cafe with a calm atmosphere, lined with antique tables, chairs, and books. They have a variety of Japanese sweets, including matcha, zenzai, and oshiruko. The exterior is also cute, so it's nice to take photos in front of the shop. It's a perfect place to wear hakama or Japanese clothing!
