Tokyo Yuzen
Yuzen dyeing is done in Tokyo. Compared to the colorful and vibrant Kyo-Yuzen, Yuzen is characterized by subdued, subdued colors and chic, modern designs. The techniques of Yuzen are the same as those in Kyoto and Kaga, but what makes it different from Kyo-Yuzen is the dyeing process. Unlike Kyoto, there is no division of labor, and most of the processes from concept design, sketch, Yuzen insertion, to finishing are done in a single process, mainly by craftsmen called pattern masters.
Tokyo dyed small pattern
This refers to stencil-dyed komon (small patterns) dyed in Tokyo. The most well-known is Edo komon, which features small patterns dyed in one color, but it also includes colorful, modern stencil-dyed patterns. Compared to Kyo-yuzen, which is colorful and gorgeous, both use fewer colors and are dyed more simply, giving them a sophisticated and chic character.
