Adachi Fireworks Festival
Enjoy yourself in a yukata
What are Adachi Fireworks?
The Adachi Fireworks Festival is held every year in late July, and is the first of the large-scale fireworks festivals held in Tokyo.
This is a highly-enriched fireworks display in the short space of one hour, with approximately 13,000 popular fireworks, including Niagara and Starmine, being launched into the sky.
Date and time: Saturday, May 31, 2025, 7:20pm - 8:20pm *Cancelled in case of bad weather
Location: Arakawa riverbank (between the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line railway bridge and Nishiarai Bridge)
Make sure you know the venue and the nearest station before you go!
On the day of the Adachi Fireworks, traffic restrictions will be in place around the venue, so we recommend using public transportation. The nearest stations are as follows:
*15 minutes walk to the venue
●Kita-Senju Station (JR East, Tokyo Metro, Tobu Railway, Tsukuba Express)
● Kosuge Station, Gotanno Station, Umejima Station (Tobu Railway)
* 25 minutes walk to the venue
● Nishiarai Station (Tobu Railway)
● Adachi-Kodai Station (Nippori-Toneri Liner)
It is expected that the journey from the nearest station to the venue will be crowded, so it will take longer than expected. In general, the Nishiarai side is less crowded than the Kita-Senju side, so using Nishiarai Station is one option. Adachi-Kodai Station is also recommended.
4 Tips for Enjoying the Fireworks in Adachi
Point 1Get ready for a long day outside
The Adachi Fireworks Festival is held every year in late July, and is the first of the large-scale fireworks festivals held in Tokyo.
- Picnic sheet
- If you haven't reserved a seat, bring a picnic sheet so you can sit on the bank or grass and watch the show. We recommend a size that is appropriate for the number of people so as not to disturb others around you.
- Insect repellent
- You will be spending a long time on the riverbank, so be careful not to get bitten by insects. It is a good idea to spray yourself with insect repellent beforehand, and to have some insect repellent items that you can install on your property.
- Wet wipes
- When sitting on the ground or eating food from a street stall, you may get your yukata and hands dirty, so be sure to bring some wet wipes with you.
- Fans, hand fans, handy fans
- Even at night, it is essential to take measures against the heat. If you have a folding fan or a hand fan, you can attach it to the obi of your yukata for a more elegant look. A battery-operated handheld fan will also work.
- Plastic bag
- At large fireworks displays, it is basic etiquette to take your trash home with you, so be sure to bring plastic bags to put your food and drink trash in.
- Towels, handkerchiefs, sweat wipes
- To protect yourself from the heat, you will also need towels, handkerchiefs, and sweat wipes. If you have a hand towel, you can tuck it inside your obi to keep it in place.
- Cooling Products
- If you are worried about the discomfort of heat or sweat, we recommend bringing cooling products such as cooling gel, sheets, or sprays.
- Bandage
- If you are not used to wearing geta, it is a good idea to bring a bandage to prevent the thong from slipping. The thong is particularly prone to slipping around the base of the big toe, so applying a bandage beforehand will help prevent this.
Point 2Check the location of food stalls and toilets in advance
Adachi Fireworks is the first large-scale fireworks display to be held in Tokyo, so it is expected to be crowded. We recommend that you check the fireworks viewing area and the locations of the food stalls before you go out.
You may also want to bring some snacks and bottled drinks with you in case you are unable to buy anything from the food stalls.
It is also important to check the location and number of restrooms. Women, in particular, may find it more crowded than they expect because they are not used to wearing yukata. Try to get there early.
Point 3Here are some hidden spots for fireworks in Adachi
The Adachi Fireworks Official Website also has a map of the venue, including information on where the restrooms are and which areas are less crowded, so be sure to check it out.
Some specific hidden spots include:
●Every year, there is a little more room on the Nishiarai side than on the Kitasenju side.
●The fireworks can also be viewed upstream from Nishiarai Bridge, so this is recommended.
On the Senju-Shinbashi side, the fireworks can be seen well from Rainbow Square.Reference: 46th Adachi Fireworks (2024) "Venue Guide (Guide to wheelchair viewing area)" | Adachi Tourism Net
Point 4Be prepared for time and weather
It is expected that the event will become more crowded as the start time approaches, so be sure to arrive at the venue early. An announcement will be made around 10 am on the day as to whether the event will be held or not, but it may be canceled suddenly due to bad weather, etc. Please check official information frequently.
Even if the Adachi fireworks display is postponed due to rain or bad weather, you can rest assured with VASARA. There is no need to rebook, your reservation will be automatically rescheduled to the same time.
Adachi's fireworks add color to the summer. Take advantage of VASARA 's limited plan and enjoy a summer moment in a yukata.
