Sensoji Temple
On a day when flower petals flutter in the spring breeze and the sleeves of a kimono touch.
When you think of Asakusa in spring, you naturally think of the cherry blossom trees lining the Sumida River. This time, my university friend and I used the kimono rental service VASARA to enjoy the cherry blossoms along the Sumida River from Asakusa.
I had a light pink patterned kimono paired with a white obi. The staff member who helped me get dressed said, "It's perfect for cherry blossom season," and I was already excited even before I left the house.
After visiting Senso-ji Temple, we walked through Nakamise Street to Sumida Park. The moment we entered the park, a tunnel of cherry blossoms in full bloom unfolded before us, a breathtaking sight. There were many tourists in kimonos, and everyone was taking pictures of each other.
I took a leisurely stroll along the promenade beside the Sumida River towards the Kitajikken River. The sight of flower petals fluttering down onto the river's surface was like a painting. As I walked, gently holding the hem of my kimono, I felt as if I were the protagonist of a movie.
I stopped at a cafe along the way and took a break with a cherry blossom mochi and matcha tea set. It's strange how it tastes so much better when you enjoy it while wearing a kimono.
In the evening, we were able to enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms in Sumida Park. The atmosphere was completely different from the daytime vibrancy, and seeing the cherry blossoms at night while wearing a kimono created a special memory.

The cherry blossom trees lining the Sumida River are a famous Tokyo landmark that has been there since the Edo period. Walking along them in a kimono, I felt as if I could sense the depth of its history.
I highly recommend visiting in a kimono, especially if you're sightseeing in Asakusa. It was a day that made me want to come back again next year.
