Ginza store
Ginza is seeing the opening of a growing number of department stores and large commercial facilities where you can enjoy the latest fashion trends.
There are also theaters and art museums where you can experience history and culture, making it an area full of spots that people of all ages can enjoy.
So, this time I would like to introduce some spots where you can enjoy strolling around in a formal kimono.
・Kabukiza, the sacred place of Kabuki
The Kabukiza Theater, located right in front of Higashi-Ginza Station, is a theater dedicated to Kabuki that opened in 1889 and has a history of 136 years this year.
Due to fires and deterioration, the building has been restored and remodeled four times, and the current building is a cutting-edge office space based on traditional Japanese aesthetics.
The office's main entrance is located on the Showa-dori side, and its appearance contrasts with the ginkgo tree-lined street, blending in with the sophisticated town of Ginza. A bright and open entrance hall with a two-story atrium welcomes office workers. The flow of people between the office and the theater is clearly separated, giving consideration to the independence of the business scene.
・Shinbashi Enbujo, where you can enjoy a variety of traditional Japanese performing arts
The Shinbashi Enbujo Theater, located in Ginza 6-chome, is a theater that was established in 1925 as a venue for presenting the "Azuma Odori" dance of the geisha world.
Nowadays, you can enjoy a wide range of performing arts, including Kabuki, Shinpa, and Shinkigeki, as well as musical performances.
Another attraction is the fact that you can taste food from famous restaurants such as Shinkiraku and Kitcho, and many people visit the restaurant just to eat and buy bento boxes.
・METoA Cafe & Kitchen
A glass-walled cafe located on the first floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza, towards Shinbashi.
This Australian cafe and restaurant serves carefully selected coffee, superfoods, and organic dishes.
・GRAND CRU CAFE GINZA
A noteworthy coffee specialty store has opened in Ginza Six. GRAND CRU CAFE GINZA is a flagship store that can be said to be the culmination of coffee hunter Yoshiaki Kawashima's work.
At a normal cafe, you order coffee by the cup, but at this shop, you choose carefully selected roasted beans (100 gram bottles) from the menu and purchase them by the bottle. 100 grams is enough for up to 6 cups. They store them carefully in a strictly temperature-controlled coffee cellar, but please note that the period is short, only 2 weeks, to maintain the freshness of the coffee beans.
We highly recommend wearing a formal kimono and going to the theater or relaxing at an upscale cafe.
