Just when you thought the temperature was finally starting to feel like autumn, it suddenly dropped back to mid-winter levels, and the delayed autumn leaves are now at their best.
This time, we would like to introduce some spots in Kyoto where you can see illuminated autumn leaves.
・Kiyomizu-dera Temple
There are illuminations in spring and summer, but the autumn illuminations are the highlight!
Kyoto has many famous spots for viewing autumn leaves, attracting many tourists. Among the many beautiful spots for viewing autumn leaves, Kiyomizu-dera Temple is particularly famous!
The autumn leaves are beautiful during the day, but the only time you can experience a truly fantastic atmosphere is when they are lit up at night! However, it is expected to be crowded, so you should be prepared.

・Kifune Maple Lantern [Kifune Shrine]
This is an event where you can enjoy the autumn scenery of Kifune, Kyoto's inner sanctum.
On the Eizan Electric Railway, you can view the autumn leaves in the "Maple Tunnel" between Ichihara and Ninose stations, and stroll along the "Road of Love" in the Kibune cuisine inn district, enveloped in the light of lanterns.
Be sure to visit Kifune Shrine, where the entire grounds will be lit up, and a craft market will be held at the inner shrine of the shrine during the event.
Period: Friday, November 1, 2024 to Sunday, November 24, 2024
・Momijien Light-up [Kitano Tenmangu Shrine]
The historic site of Odoi Momijien, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, features 350 autumn leaves in full color.
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine enshrines Sugawara no Michizane as its deity. It is known as a famous plum blossom viewing spot in the spring, but in the fall, you can enjoy the brilliantly colored autumn leaves. From mid-November to early December, the Momijien Garden in Odoi is lit up after sunset, allowing you to enjoy a stroll and admire the various autumn leaves that emerge in the light. The views from the vermilion-painted drum bridge "Uguisu Bridge" over the Kamiya River and the stage at the Umekoken teahouse are particularly spectacular.
Period: Saturday, November 9, 2024 to Sunday, December 8, 2024
Time: Sunset to 20:00 (end) (last entry 19:30)
・Toji Temple
Autumn leaves illuminated and special night viewing of the Kondo and Kodo Halls
