Rental process

We will introduce the process of renting your favorite kimono, from reservation to return. We will also explain how to cancel your reservation, how to verify your identity when you visit the store, and the time it takes from dressing to departing for sightseeing, so please read it before renting.

1. Reservation

Please make a reservation for the date and time you wish to rent using the "Web Reservation Form" or "LINE Chat". Reservations are not required, but if you come to the store just before your visit, the store may be fully booked. To ensure that you can rent a kimono, we recommend that you make a reservation in advance.

Online reservations can be made up to 30 minutes before your visit. For last minute reservations, we also accept reservations by phone, so please feel free to contact us.

If you wish to cancel, please use the reservation cancellation form. Depending on the plan, a cancellation fee may apply, so please check the "Cancellation/Other" section of the FAQ for details.

2. Visit us

On the day of your reservation, please arrive at the store about 5 minutes before your reservation time. We will ask you to show your ID (passport, driver's license, student ID, etc.) at the reception desk to confirm your identity.

If you are unsure where the store is when you come to the store, please call us and we will guide you there. If you are about 5 to 10 minutes late for your reservation, please come to the store, but if you are more than 30 minutes late, please contact us and we will reschedule your reservation.

3. Dressing

Once you have finished the check-in process, you will choose a kimono and be dressed. If it is not busy, it will take about 20 minutes per person to dress up.

It takes about an hour per person from reception to choosing a kimono, getting dressed, styling your hair, choosing accessories, and departing for sightseeing. If you are visiting with multiple people, it will take about an hour and a half to two hours from reception to departure. The time it takes to get ready will vary depending on the time it takes to choose a kimono and how busy it is, so please make sure to reserve your time with some leeway.

4. Hair styling

Once you have been dressed in your kimono, we will set your hair (for female customers only). We have a catalogue with a variety of designs to choose from, from the classic bun hairstyle (free course) to the latest designs such as braids (paid course). Please choose your favorite design to complement your kimono.

Don't worry, we also have special designs for those with short hair. Optional hair accessories are available, both free and paid.

5. Selecting accessories

As for accessories, in addition to obi and collars, we also have large Japanese style bags, stoles, haori coats, rain umbrellas, parasols, maiko umbrellas, flower decorations, etc. that will make your kimono look stand out more. We also recommend adding your favorite accessories as accents according to your own taste.

Please note that we do not store valuables. Please place your valuables in a drawstring bag or a Japanese-style bag. If you would like to carry a makeup pouch or a large wallet, we can rent a large Japanese-style bag for you.

6. Sightseeing

Once you're ready, you can head out for sightseeing or a meal. There are many tourist attractions around Asakusa. We'll introduce them in detail later, so please use this as a reference when planning your outing.

In addition to Asakusa, you can also take the subway from Asakusa Station to Tokyo Skytree, Ueno Park, and other places. Our staff can also suggest recommended sightseeing routes, so please feel free to ask us for advice if necessary.

7.Return

When you finish sightseeing, please return your kimono by the final return time of 17:30. All plans require a return time of 17:30. By adding an option, you can also return the kimono the next day (2,200 yen) or by mail (4,400 yen including shipping). If you wish to use the kimono overnight, please add the above option separately before your departure.

If you do not return the item in time, you will be charged a late fee of 1,100 yen per item after 17:30. If you return the item after business hours, we will not be able to accept your return on the same day, so please return the item between 9:00 and 17:30 the following day. In that case, you will be charged a late fee of 2,200 yen per item per night.

  • Kaminarimon
  • Kaminarimon is the main gate of Sensoji Temple. It is always crowded with tourists from Japan and abroad who want to take commemorative photos in front of the large red lantern with the word "Kaminarimon" written on it.

The official name of Kaminarimon, "Fuujin-mon" (Fuujin and Raijin-mon), comes from the fact that there are wind gods and thunder gods on either side of the gate. As their names suggest, the wind gods and thunder gods are the gods who govern wind and rain, and are meant to ward off storms and floods and to pray for a bountiful harvest. It's a place you definitely want to stop by when strolling around Asakusa.
  • Nakamise
  • Nakamise is the main approach to Sensoji Temple and is one of the oldest shopping streets in Japan. The 250m stretch from Kaminarimon to Hozomon is called Nakamise, and both sides of the approach are lined with traditional shops.

Nakamise is home to many gourmet and sweet shops, but eating while walking is prohibited, so you should only eat any purchased food in the eatery space set up by the store, or by stopping nearby.

At the Asakusa Engei Hall, you can enjoy a variety of entertainment other than rakugo, such as manzai, comedy sketches, acrobatics, and impersonations. The interior and exterior are retro, so taking photos wearing a kimono would make a wonderful keepsake.

  • Asakusa Public Hall
  • In front of the entrance to Asakusa Public Hall, on the sidewalk, and in the plaza, there are about 300 handprints of famous people who have contributed to popular entertainment. The number of handprints increases every year, so it is recommended to look for the handprints of famous people you know.

In addition to traditional crafts, the products on offer also include a corner where you can sample Japanese sake and Japanese wine (tasting is subject to a fee). They also offer snacks that go well with local foods and alcohol, making it the perfect tourist spot for choosing souvenirs for yourself or friends.
  • Kokugikan Sumo Hall
  • Of the six Grand Sumo Tournaments held each year, three are held in January, May, and September at the Kokugikan. The Sumo Museum is located nearby, and you can view special exhibitions that are held every two months for free outside of the tournaments (only Grand Sumo spectators can view the exhibitions during the tournaments).
