The Chofu Fireworks 2023 will be held on Sunday, September 24th at Tama River in Chofu City, Tokyo. The Chofu Fireworks has been canceled for three consecutive years since 2020 due to the coronavirus. This year will be the first time it has been held in three years, and many people are looking forward to it.
Chofu's fireworks have a long history, first taking place in 1933. After that, it was temporarily suspended due to the Pacific War, but was quickly revived after the war, and from 1954, it was held 14 times as the All Japan Export Promotion Fireworks Competition. Every year on the day of the Chofu Fireworks Festival, we have a large number of people renting yukata at our Shinjuku Station store and Shibuya store, which are easily accessible by train (Keio Line).
This year marks the first time the event has been held in three years, so we highly recommend that you come dressed in a cute yukata.
The closest station to the fireworks venue, Keio Tamagawa Station, is about 22 minutes on the Keio Line (which connects to the Sagamihara Line at Chofu Station) from Shinjuku Station, the closest station to the Shinjuku store.
The Shibuya store is about 27 minutes away from Shibuya Station on the Inokashira Line and Keio Line.
At VASARA Kimono Rental, you can extend your stay until 5:30pm the following day, so you can enjoy the fireworks at your leisure and then go home. You can return the kimono the next day!
